GROUP DYNAMICS
NOTHING BUT LOVE FOR MY FELLOW PRODUCERS <3
I'm so grateful for the team I've been blessed to work with on this project. I would say my favorite aspect of our dynamic is the way we complement each other. Some of us are more specialized in areas where the others are weak, and when we come together with this varied knowledge, it creates something beautiful.
NICOLE
Definitely one of the largest assets to the team has been Nicole. Her filming and editing experience was a godsend during this project.
Every day of filming, she came prepared to do what was necessary, and took well to changes in the creative process. For example, when Sarah or I thought something maybe should be filmed in a different way, she happily obliged and took no personal offense. We interacted in a manner of understanding, knowing that we were simply doing what had to be done and any alterations were not a personal attack on anyone.
As for editing, Nicole took on a large role. She was the one who carried out all editing, though the ideas for it were a collaborative group effort. Anything regarding the computer was all her, so she deserves a majority of that credit. She cut out a lot of extra footage we had on her own, still trying to fit the vision to the best of her ability.
SARAH
Sarah is like a creative visionary. She brought the ideas and artistic flair to our project.
In the brainstorming process, it was Sarah who really had the idea for our movie. Without her imagination, you wouldn't be seeing our opener! Also, she drew out the storyboard (both initial and revised), so she even has the ability to bring her ideas to life, which is a wonderful trait to have.
Moreover, can we talk about what an amazing performance Sarah put on as Juliet? Acting is definitely not easy and I'm really proud of her for being the star of the film and having the resilience to do takes over and over again without becoming uncooperative or anything like that.
ME
What did I bring to the table? My writing skills were definitely helpful in the pre-filming process, as well as being a sort of "secondary director", and behind the scenes set of hands.
I created the script/storyline for the film through collaborative storyboarding with Sarah. Drawing inspiration from our brainstorming sessions, I outlined what would be done on camera. We all found changes we wanted to make as we went on actually filming it, and I respectfully accepted the criticism, understanding changes are a necessary part of the process.
During filming, I was definitely more on the sidelines as opposed to the frontlines, but my influence was still significant. Any last minute set dressing or lighting was done by me since I wasn't acting or carrying the camera. Also, I sort of led the way in "directing", letting my team know what was going to be filmed next and how it was originally written to be done (all subject to change).
