FIRST DAY OF FILMING

WE FILMED!

Yes, it's true. The long awaited first day of filming has finally happened. Our original day of filming didn't work out, so we met at 11:00 AM on the beautiful Sunday morning of February 20th.

Our location was Sarah's house, and we filmed the first scene of our movie, where Juliet is crying in the dressing room while she gets ready for her show.

This was Sarah, putting on makeup to prep for our favorite part of the movie opener. Accentuating the fact that she was crying was really fun, the only thing that was worrying was making sure it looked the same in each shot. She did her own makeup, and she was really fast with it!

Here is us setting up a little, Sarah looking at her reflection to get ready and me toying with the lighting. We didn't plan ahead much for lighting, but we were lucky to have me as an extra set of hands since Nicole was filming and Sarah was acting. Some of our pictures are silly because we were just having a lot of fun.

This is us getting an angle, me taking the responsibility of being the behind the scenes cameraman. The angle being right is super important for these few shots because one wrong move, and the camera would be in the shot! Thankfully, we were able to find a good angle after a few tries. I'm so glad Sarah happened to have her big mirror for us to film with.

Here's another lighting attempt, we decided to light Sarah from the top to add a physical form of shadow to the dark feelings stirring within Sarah. We were inspired by this video that Mrs. Woz showed us about lighting the face a specific way in The Godfather.

Throughout filming, I found that things weren't really as difficult as they would seem. Really the only issues we ran into was finding the right angle and messing around with lighting, which, even then, wasn't too rough. The process was actually a lot of fun, and I think we're all really happy with the results. We did a lot of takes, so I doubt we'll need to reshoot anything for this scene, and fingers crossed for the remaining ones.
