COSTUMING

 THE COSTUME DEPARTMENT

It's time for one of the most fun parts of creating this film opening, the costumes! Here I'll show some outlines for our two characters' outfits. 

Juliet, the main character, will have three outfits. Her first being the outfit in which she is about to performer rockstar debut, secondly pajamas, and lastly her school outfit before she converted to the rock and roll lifestyle.

Juliet's mother will wear her work clothes, formal office attire, as she will be an accountant. This will be her only outfit shown for the duration of the opener.

JULIET (ROCKSTAR)

For Juliet, we really wanted to draw inspiration from female rock stars of the past, specifically like Joan Jett. Juliet will wear black pants with an intricate, punk top with platform shoes and some cool accessories, like a chunky silver necklace and bracelets. We're going to put her in a bright pink wig to differentiate the physical and mental change in herself, it's a paradox because pink means tranquility, but she will be using it to show off and out. The outfit will be a reflection of newfound confidence, even if it's not solid, seeing as she's crying. 

JULIET (SLEEP)

Juliet will wear plaid pajama pants, a regular staple of pajama wear for all genders. Her shirt will be oversized and a plain black. The pajama pants will be grey to show neutrality, how she is more resigned now and less showy prior to her rocker stage.

JULIET (SCHOOL)

For school, we will have Juliet dress very modern and average. She will wear classic blue jeans of a light shade with a floral long sleeve shirt to show her modesty and wish to blend in. The light, white-toned colors will be implicative of her "purity" prior to her stage of rebellion from the norm.

JULIET'S MOM (ACCOUNTANT)

Juliet's mother will have the occupation of an accountant, and will be on her way to work, just dropping her daughter off in the process. Her clothes will be very neutral, full of browns and grays to signify her as a pillar of strength and reliability in Juliet's life. This will be office attire as her workplace, though not shown during our opener, will be a professional place, full of formality.
